BUILD IT. CREATE IT. LAUNCH IT.

January 23, 2012

Do it. Whatever “it” is.

Now is the time.

There are times when you MUST do something before you can move on. Before you can build better things or feel at peace with yourself.

You may not know what it looks like or you may know exactly what it looks like. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that the time has come and you’re tired of avoiding. Tired of thinking about it. Because buying more time also buys you more pain, and you know that.

So you’re afraid to do what you need to do. You’re restless, your heart and mind are totally uncomfortable, yet you still don’t do it.

Don’t be afraid now. You’ve already been there and it’s time to try something new. Time to put your heart at rest and get relief, some reward for your effort and striving.

Now is the time.

Initiate the conversation. Write the book. Book the gig. Call the client. Pop the question. Quit the job. Ask the hard question. Leave the baggage.

Even if no one buys it or no one hears you or she says no or if the conversation sucks or the product tanks. Even if you lose money and time.

Do it anyway.

Your nerves will thank you.

You had to do it and now it’s done. Now there’s space for something new, something even greater, that could never have existed before.

There, doesn’t that feel better?

xx Ishita

I absolutely love this message and believe it is a mantra for life. Inaction & complacency is the cause of so much unnecessary unhappiness and movement is the solution. Don’t sit still, but instead do something. Anything. Just get moving in a direction and be free to where that may take you.

As a nice corollary, do not regret the actions once you take them. By moving you are sure to make mistakes. However, it is a hell of a lot easier to correct mistakes while you are in motion than when you are sitting still complaining as life moves on by.

Thank you for a great reminder and kick in the ass.

Warren,

You put it beautifully — by moving we are bound to make mistakes. Simple and powerful.

What a nice short, powerfu, and actionable motto to live by for the procrastinator in all of us.
Whoever said that a blog post has to be long to be effective.

I love this post! I love this blog! I love the pic too!

So much truth … had this exact internal dialogue last night, except the inner voice wasn’t so poignant and spot on.

Movement is king.

Thanks!

Brett,

I like to imagine one’s internal voice as unique and at times feeble, yet it always brings about something powerful.

This is going on my wall…Not many things go on my wall, but this is absolutely necessary.

Matt and Ishita! Thank you for doing the work you do. I get so much out of it, more than I can ever express.

Thanks for the nice message Ishita. Your post in a way gave a push for me to register for a marathon which I had been procrastinating a couple of days. Nike got it right when they say “Just do it”. I also do believe it’s important to find balance for some silence time to remove all the noise and clutter we unconsciously create.

It’s great to read something that’s both enoajyble and provides pragmatisdc solutions.

BUILD IT. CREATE IT. LAUNCH IT.
Hmmm…the first two words are redundant.
Should’ve just been: CREATE IT. LAUNCH IT.

Seeing this post reminds me of every single half-done piece of writing that I have. I agree with Elana. This post is wall-worthy.

Thank you so much for writing it!!

This absolutely rocks. My life mantra has been “You have everything you need to accomplish anything you want”, and I say it anytime I’m stuck, fearful or otherwise procrastinating. This post is a powerful reminder that there has never been a better time than the present to seize the opportunities in life, and to not do so actually creates more pain, tension and fear. Awesome blog. Thank you so much for all you do!

I totally agree with this. Anyone can achieve anything they put their mind to it. You simply have to believe and feel it. It will happen. I love this post (albeit I’m a little late in reading it) but the message still rings true. Also I’m loving all the positive and reaffirming comments left by people. Positivity breeds change, change breeds evolution.
Thanks so much everyone!
