The Cost of Fear
Last November, WIRED magazine ran an important cover story on the detrimental effects caused by some parents’ fear that vaccines cause autism.
It’s worth a read.

Haven’t read this article, but how do we explain the correlation between autism and vaccines?
I think it’s dangerous to be motivated to risk the neurological health of our children out of FEAR they might contract a disease. In fact, the odds they’ll get autism are greater than the odds of getting the disease.
Society has gone crazy with attempting to protect itself OUT OF FEAR.
I agree with John’s comment. What about the fear of authority that many young mothers have that prevents them from asking their pediatricians about the vaccine cocktail their baby is about to receive? All of my (now grown) children were fully vaccinated, and one has some autism spectrum issues. I wish had not been afraid to seek information, before I signed that release, without questioning my child’s pediatrician. Gathering information isn’t always about fear, you know. It can be about taking responsibility as a parent to educate yourself.
